Unlike most detective movies in which the focus is always the case itself , this film utilizes a great portion to depict the characters , especially detective kang . this character is taken care of to the finest details . he is the pivot of the movie , almost all the supporting characters are employed to complement and balance his character 不过和一般的警匪片不同的是，在查案的过程中，编导也花了不少篇幅去描写塑造人物，犹其薛景求的角色写得颇为立体，透过一众配角的衬托，把这个人物的魅力表达出来，令人印像难忘。
Although he suspects that the woman is her girlfriend , he doesn t really have the right to investigate , but then the woman has already become part of his life , so it gives him a lot of pressures , and almost drives him mad eventually . you really couldn t say he is evil , it is just about his mind and attitude . there is no good or bad , he only lives for himself , and it is the same for daniel wu and ekin cheng 其实这些感情线，是反警匪片的传统，趣味的是当这条线开了出来，内里的枝节会在内心不断的运行，好像在一条大动脉上，你要留意上面的那些小血管，正如我刚才所讲，他见到一见似曾相识的女人，这条线他好像要放低，但其实这条线仍在运行的，令到有很多压力迫力，使这个男主角最后走入一个绝路，始终人太多东西想都会想到发疯的，但这又不能说是阴暗面，只是从他的心态度出发，他不是一个坏人，亦没有说他是否好人，但他的生存只是为了自己一点。
